World Riichi Rules

The genesis of the World Riichi rules was in 2013 when an agreement to hold the first World Riichi Championship was struck between TriNitroTiles of Paris and the Japan Professional Mahjong League. The author and director of the rules, Sylvain Malbec, has successfully steered the ruleset through several iterations, winning it a place as the most well-known international standard set of riichi mahjong rules.

Sylvain and the World Riichi organisation continues to make improvements to ensure we are worthy of the support of players and we are always seeking further feedback.
